Samsung is preparing a new camera-centric Galaxy F series in India
Samsung offers a wide variety of smartphones in the Indian market, ranging from entry-level offerings like the Galaxy M01 to top-of-the-line flagships like the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 2. But while the company’s portfolio consists of several devices in different price segments, its the mid-range Galaxy M and Galaxy A series devices that top the sales charts in the country. For this reason, Samsung is now looking to launch another mid-range series in India with a focus on camera performance. As per a recent report from 91mobiles, the new series will be launched under the Galaxy F banner, and it will be priced between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000.
Industry sources familiar with the matter have revealed that the first Samsung Galaxy F series device will be launched next month, and it will be sold through online channels. However, the company may consider bringing it to the offline market at a later stage, just like it did with the Galaxy M series. While the report reveals no further information about the upcoming series, a separate report from SamMobile sheds light on what could be the first Galaxy F series device.
The report talks about a Samsung device with the model number SM-F415F, which was previously rumored to be an affordable Samsung foldable smartphone. The report confirms that SM-F415F isn’t a foldable device, and it’s just a variant of the Galaxy M31 that was launched in India earlier this year. The report cites a Wi-Fi Alliance certificate for the SM-F415F, which mentions M315 as the firmware version of the device. Interestingly, the Galaxy M31 has the same firmware version and a matching spec sheet. Therefore, we suspect that the SM-F415F could be the first Galaxy F series device with the same specifications as the Galaxy M31.
If that’s true, the first Galaxy F series device will feature a 6.4-inch SuperAMOLED display with a tear-drop style notch, a quad-camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor, and a 32MP selfie shooter. The device will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9611 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage. It will also pack in a 6,000mAh battery with support for 15W fast wired charging. While the hardware specifications of the upcoming device may be the same as that of the Galaxy M31, Samsung will most likely offer some camera-centric improvements and design changes on the device.
